David Micley is running for one of the vacant at-large seats on Newton City Council in Ward 2, with a platform prioritizing making Newton a multigenerational city with a variety of housing options.
Reflecting on the resilience of the Newton community over the past year, Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller delivered her fourth State of the City Address.
“I’m running because I love this city. And I am committed to this city, and I am dedicated here,” Ranalli said.
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) proposed a number of service cuts to account for the $580 million budget shortfall it is experiencing due to decreased ridership during the pandemic.
With Election Day only days away, Newton City Councilor Jake Auchincloss said he feels confident as his first national campaign for the Massachusetts 4th District congressional seat comes to a close on Tuesday.
“Our tribal members were removed from their ancestral land so that you can have your town,” said Faries Gray, war chief of the Massachusetts tribe. “So, I think you should listen to what we have to say about Indigenous Peoples’ Day versus Columbus Day.”
“Especially in time when there is greater attention, overdue nevertheless, to issues of racial equity and writing historical wrongs, I think it makes sense to put an end to honoring the man who played a leading role in enslavement and genocide,” Norton said.
