After Clemson erased a deficit with a three-run eighth, BC struck for two runs in the top of the 11th and knocked off the eighth-seeded Tigers in their ACC Tournament opener.
The Eagles, who slipped in as the No. 12 seed, open up the ACC Tournament against the eighth seed in Clemson—a team that took two of three from BC earlier this year.
Behind 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball from freshman Mason Pelio, BC fought off a late rally from the Tigers and avoided a series sweep at home on Sunday afternoon in front of a good crowd.
The Eagles lineup struggled mightily against Tigers freshman Davis Sharpe, while Clemson didn’t have similar issues getting to BC senior Dan Metzdorf in a convincing 8-1 victory.
