The Campus Activities Board (CAB) has officially confirmed that rapper Shwayze will headline this year’s Homecoming Weekend concert on Thursday, Oct. 16. Boston College-based musician William Bolton, A&S ’16, will open for the hip-hop artist.

In this day and age, students at BC have forgotten the most important aspect of negotiation. If they were to look to BC's past, they would find some good examples in how to negotiate from former students.

A task force comprised of students and administrators that formed in December to create a new organization for University programming has reached a finalized structure for the future of campus entertainment and recreational student activities at Boston College.

If you've ever seen Mario Savio's 1964 "put your bodies upon the gears" speech-a part of the Free Speech Movement (FSM) at UC Berkeley in which he fearlessly urged his fellow students to take on a university that he saw as oppressive, tyrannical, and corrupt-then you know that you've probably never seen a display of conviction as passionate and as brazen as his at Boston College.

UGBC relaunched Campus Voice, a website that provides a forum for students to create and support initiatives meant to improve the BC community, this week. his or her particular issue's status through emails from UGBC. While the site's goals-including increased transparency, accountability, and dialogue between UGBC and the student body-are well intentioned, the execution of the site launch has been flawed so far.

I'm not saying I'm not jealous of your tan, but Henry David T would be proud of what went down last week (and Boston College should be, too). Over Spring Break, hundreds of college students were arrested for engaging in civil disobedience by cuffing themselves to the White House fence, as thousands of others cheered them on.

Matthew Alonsozana's Feb. 5 op-ed betrays its supposed intent for "a more sustainable BC." We in BC Fossil Free (BCFF) have the same goal, but we understand that such actions will do little to address the deepening climate crisis jeopardizing our future. As we correct some of Alonsozana's mischaracterizations, we hope you will come to understand why young people on campus have been pushing for divestment and, more generally, fighting for climate justice.

The Heights endorses Nanci Fiore-Chettiar and Chris Marchese, both A&S '15, for president and executive vice president of UGBC. The Fiore-Chettiar-Marchese team's platform offers the best and most realistic vision for Boston College's student government in the year ahead. With well-developed plans of action for many of their platform points and extensive UGBC experience under their belts, Fiore-Chettiar and Marchese are best equipped to execute their vision for UGBC in the year ahead.

BC Fossil Free has an important but controversial goal: to have the University completely divest from fossil fuels.

I respectfully disagree with the approach and message of BC Fossil Free. It may be cool to be green, and there are legitimate arguments to be made for sustainability. Divesting from the Boston College endowment fossil-fuel related assets, however, deserves further scrutiny and a willingness to debate openly its merits.

Dean of Students Paul Chebator has recently made it public knowledge that he plans to retire at the end of this semester. This marks the conclusion of a 34-year career working in the Dean of Students' office. During his time at the University, he has consistently striven to make life at BC better for students, often going above and beyond the call of duty.
