The Boston College Graduate Employees Union released a video from Massachusetts Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren endorsing its fight for recognition.
“In recent weeks, the NLRB has issued decisions that make clear it is a partisan vehicle for limiting workers’ rights,” the Boston College Graduate Employees Union organizing committee wrote in an email.
BC has asked for the NLRB to review its decision in granting the union an election.
Once the union selects a bargaining committee, graduate workers will vote on a slate of priorities for negotiations with BC.
The union’s election will go on as planned this week, despite BC’s motion to stay.
if successful, BC’s move could derail the union’s hopes of establishing a collectively bargained contract.
Following a National Labor Relations Board court decision to allow graduate students to unionize nationwide, the Boston College Graduate Employee Union is working to create a union at BC.
