BC men’s hockey fell to UMass Lowell in the semifinals of the Hockey East Tournament on Wednesday after leading 4-1. With the loss, the Eagles will have to wait at least until next season to win their first Hockey East Tournament championship since 2012.
Despite being outshot for the second night in a row, the Eagles escaped Kelley Rink with another one-goal victory, outlasting 10th-seeded Merrimack and, in effect, booking a trip to TD Garden.
BC got on the board first, but from that point forward, Connecticut took over. The Huskies rattled off three-straight goals, en route a decisive two-score victory and a trip to the Hockey East Championship.
Katie Burt recorded 30-plus saves for the fourth-straight game and the Eagles’ top-three scorers lit the lamp, paving the way for a Game One victory in the Hockey East Tournament Quarterfinals.
